A student in a San Diego County school was told that her report on assassinated gay rights leader Harvey Milk was akin to "sexual education" and a "sensitive topic". The school placed restrictions on the student's report saying she first had to receive permission from her fellow classmates parents to present. Only after the principle sent letters to parents notifying them of the "sensitive" subject matter was the student allowed to present her presentation during a lunch recess.

TALLAHASSEE -- Sources close to Senate President Jeff Atwater, R-North Palm Beach, confirmed he will be announcing his bid for state chief financial officer on Tuesday -- a day after Republican Bill McCollum announces his gubernatorial bid.
"We're letting Mr. McCollum get out of the gate first," one source said.
Atwater will be on hand Monday in Orlando when McCollum makes his news. The location for Atwater's CFO announcement hasn't been determined yet.

Slowly but surely the archaic anti gay adoption ban crumbles one court ruling at a time. Today a Florida court of appeals struck down a lower court ruling that disallowed second parent adoptions by gay couples from other states.
"Today, the Florida Court of Appeals unanimously reversed a lower court ruling and held that Florida must give full faith and credit to adoptions granted to same-sex couples by other states, holding that Lara Embry, the plaintiff in the case, “must be given the same rights as any other adoptive parent in Florida.”

Each year we get a slew of calls from people complaining that AAA refused to provide a family or associate membership to the callers partner. Often a few extra phone calls gets the matter resolved with the partner's name added but in recent years, it appears AAA (at least in Florida) has come down on the side of ignoring gay couples, even those who have been legally married elsewhere or have civil union or domestic partnership status.

Rubio jumped in the US Senate race last week, Crist couldn't let him get too big a head start. News outlets are reporting Crist will announce on Tuesday that he will be running for US Senate. Crist runs for Senate and the political shakeup begins.
I wonder which fabulous cabinet member will run for governor?
