Atlantic Beach City Commission Takes First Step In Creating A Fully-Inclusive HRO

On Monday, November 25th, the Atlantic Beach City Commission took a huge step forward in creating a city ordinance prohibiting discrimination against LGBT people. The commission came to a consensus to have city staff write language for a policy that would prohibit discrimination in employment, housing and public accommodations.
At Monday’s workshop, pro-equality supporters filled the room and city staff had to set up overflow areas. Ministers, teachers, doctors, children of gay parents and straight allies all told their stories about why they support a non-discrimination policy in Atlantic Beach.
Now, the city will hold a public hearing on December 9th and take their first vote on the policy. We need pro-equality supporters like you to continue to make your voice heard.
1) Show Up December 9th! The first public hearing is the best place for you to come and show your support. It is important for commissioners to know pro-equality supporters stand with them.
